The CYC Nominating Committee has proposed its slate of officers and directors for 2012 and nominates the candidates for election at the club annual meeting on Monday, Nov 28.

Staff Commodore Eric Sanderson, who chaired the nominating committee, said the candidates “are people who have a vision for the club and want to be involved.” He added, “They also represent diverse aspects of the broader sailing community – people who we want to bring to the club.”

Sanderson said that in addition to the nominees, there were other qualified candidates who will be called upon to help the club in other ways in 2012 and will be potential board nominees in the future.

Under the club bylaws, members can make additional nominations for officers and board members by sending a letter to the club secretary no later than 30 days before the annual meeting. The letter must be signed by 10 senior members.

Nominations for board members may be made by members from the floor at the annual meeting.

The nominees are:

• Commodore, Ken Johnson (currently vice commodore)

• Vice Commodore, Bruce Van Deventer (currently rear commodore)

• Rear Commodore, Brian Watkins

• Secretary, Lydia Volberding (incumbent)

• Treasurer, Stuart Burnell

• Fleet Captain Race, Bill Blodgett

• Fleet Captain Cruise, Doug Stewart

• Director, 1-year term, Kathryn Meyer (incumbent)

• Director, 1-year term, Staff Commodore Steve Johnson

• Director, 2-year term, Nojan Moshiri

• Director, 2-year term, Sunny Fenton

• Director, 2-year term, Derick Vranizan

In addition to Sanderson, members of the nominating committee were Commodore Wayne Balsiger, Rear Commodore Bruce Van Deventer and Staff Commodore Bruce Sherman.
