12th Annual Rookie Rally
Introduction to Performance Sailing 2000
The Rookie Rally Introduction to Performance Sailing offers a chance for the skippers and crew to learn about and sample sailboat racing. Its purpose is to encourage sailors to race their boats and have fun.
The 2000 Rookie Rally will be held the weekend of May 13th and 14th. Experienced racing skippers will be arranged for onboard coaching during the on the water sessions. Rookies are encouraged to sail the CYC summer series races following the Rookie Rally and they’ll sail in their own start. Rookie events will be held throughout the year at scheduled CYC Regattas to encourage continuing participation for all Rookies. The Leukemia Cup will be held in June with a designated Rookie class.
Videos will be taken during on the water sessions and viewed in the clubhouse each day after sailing. It’s a fun opportunity to see how your boat looks sailing, how your are trimming the sails and how you drive the boat.
Professional Marine photographer Kelly Oneill will be on the water taking photos of your boat and crew racing, ready for purchase after racing each day.

The cost of the Rookie Rally including participation the summer evening series is 45.00 for CYC members, 65.00 for non-members. Registration is by telephone or mail, and entry fee must be in the CYC office no later than the 10th of May. Overnight moorage at Shilshole Bay can be arranged through the Port of Seattle. Racing your boat on Lake Washington or Puget Sound can be great fun. Don’t delay getting started, get your crew together and join us at the Rookie Rally Introduction to Performance Sailing.
