This regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing currently in effect, including any & all amendments made by these sailing instructions
2.1 Boats may be entered by completing registration with the organising authorities. Registration forms may be obtained at CYC, SYC or by contacting Amy Larsen at The Leukemia-Lymphoma Society, telephone 206-957-4563 or e-mail Amy Larsen
2.2 Late registrations will be taken as time allows but cannot be guaranteed. Late registrations must be personally delivered to the organising authority during the "Regatta Kick-off Night" celebration at CYC’s Shilshole clubhouse from 6:30pm to 8:30 pm on Friday June 14, 2002.
Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located outside the East entrance of the CYC Shilshole Clubhouse.
Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 0800 hours on the day it will take effect, except that any change in the schedule of races will be posted by 1800 hours on the day before it will take effect.
5.1 Signals made ashore will be displayed from the flag staff of the CYC Clubhouse.
5.2 Flag AP with two horns (one horn when lowered) means ‘The race is postponed. The warning signal will be made not less than 60 minutes after AP is lowered.’

The R/C boat will have three reader boards on the stern to display starting sequences and the courses to be sailed.
The order of class starts will be displayed on the top line of the race committee boat reader boards reading from left to right.
The classes will be designated by their letters as set out in Illustration "A" attached.
The order of starts and courses may be changed for subsequent races.
8.1 The course for the buoy races will be approximately one mile north of Meadow Point and the race committee boat will be the "Portage Bay."
8.2 The diagram in Illustration B shows the course and the order in which marks are to be passed.
The course to be sailed will be on the lower line of the race committee boat reader boards under each class designation.
8.3 All marks shall be left to port.
8.4 The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag or shape on the race committee boat at the starboard end and the port end starting mark.
Boats whose preparatory signal has not been made shall keep clear of the starting area and of all boats whose preparatory signal has been made.
All marks shall be temporary inflatable buoys.
10.1 Races will be started using rule 26.
10.2 Warning: The race committee boat may use its engine to hold position, either at the start or finish, and may do so even when apparently anchored.
10.3 STARTING/FINISHING LINE RESTRICTION
After completing the first leg of the course, a boat shall not cross the starting/finishing line unless she is sailing an upwind leg of a multiple leg course or is finishing.
The starting/finishing line shall rank as an obstruction for boats sailing downwind legs.
While racing, boats shall not interfere with boats that are starting.
10.4 RECALLS
Individual recalls will be signalled in accordance with rule 29.2 and in addition the race committee may attempt to hail boats OCS with a loud hailer. This changes rule 29.2
The finishing line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag or shape on the race committee boat and the mark at the port end.
The time limit for the first boat in each class to finish will be 90 minutes. Boats failing to finish within 20 minutes after the first boat in her class finishes, or within the time limit, whichever is later, will be scored Did Not Finish. This changes rule 35.

The R/C boat will attempt to display placards near the stern to designate the class starting next.
The order of class starts will be as designated on the class breaks posted on the official notice board designated in #3 above.
15.1 The start line will be in the vicinity of the Shilshole Bay Marina breakwater. The start line will be designated by an orange flag or shape on the committee boat and either a temporary or permanent buoy. The committee boat will also be displaying a CYC burgee identifying it as the committee boat for this race
15.2 NORTH WIND: The course will be Start, Meadow Point Buoy, Blakely Rocks, finish.
All marks to be left to port.
15.3 SOUTH WIND: The course will be Start, Blakely Rocks, Finish
All marks shall be left to port.
15.4 Boats whose preparatory signal has not been made shall keep clear of the starting area and of all boats whose preparatory signal has been made.
16.1 Races will be started using rule 26.

The time limit for the first boat in each class to finish will be 6 hours. If a boat in a class finishes within the time limit, all other boats must finish within 30 minutes or the time limit, whichever is later. Boats failing to finish will be scored Did Not Finish. This changes rule 35.
19.1 Written protests shall be delivered to a representative of the protest committee at the CYC club house within 60 minutes after the docking of the race committee boat. Docking time of the race committee boat will be posted on the official notice board.
19.2 Protest notices will be posted on the official notice board at the CYC clubhouse within 30 minutes of the protest time limit to inform competitors where and when there is a hearing in which they are parties to a hearing or named as witnesses. This posting shall be considered notice as required by rule 63.2.
The Low Point scoring system, rule A4, will apply. Three buoy races shall constitute a series. Each boats’ series score will be the total of her race scores. If seven buoy races are completed a boat may discard her worst score, except when prohibited by rule 88.3.
The lowest series score wins.
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats, and only if her class rules permit the use of radios.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning boats at a ceremony from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday June 15. The ceremony will be held at the Ballard Elks Club, 6411 Seaview Avenue NW. Preceding the ceremony will be a fundraising dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
