Communications With Members Get a Boost With Improved Web Site

Photos and articles that normally would appear in the Leadline are migrating to the CYC web site as part of an effort to improve communications with members and make those communications more timely. The shift also will save the club $11,000 a year in mailing and printing costs.

Webmaster Derek Storm, working with Vice Commodore Bruce Sherman, has re-designed the web site's home page to give prominent display to photos and news of current CYC events. There also are plans to re-work the top of the page with new photos and graphics.

The CYC Board approved the concept of moving the Leadline content online as part of the 2009 budget. The November issue will be the last one produced and mailed to the membership.

Allan Johnson, who has served as Leadline editor for the last year, will help lead the committee that will generate content for the web site, cycseattle.org.

"We're excited about getting news and information to our members more quickly and in a more attractive format," Sherman said. "Because it contains race results, the web site already draws a lot of traffic, and these improvements should bring even more."
