The Commodore/Gibson Gang

Commodore-Gibson participants

Photos by Bruce Sherman

Four boats sailed in this year's Commodore/Gibson event, a race-cruise to Port Ludlow August 1-2. In the photo above, ready for bed after a great dinner at the Port Ludlow Marina are, from left, Melinda Mains, Suzette Connolly, Paul Baker, Bill Mains, Murray Field and Rick Shepler. Not in the photo were participants Bruce Sherman and his son Philip. In the bottom photo, the Mainses paused for a photo on Sunday morning aboard their trimaran Troika. Moored behind them is Fields' Beneteau First 305 Quorum. The Shermans won the Commodore Race to Port Ludlow Saturday on their J/24 Eagle, followed by Fields and his crew, Shepler. The other two boats got caught in a hole at Kingston, started their motors, and dropped out of the race. As there was no wind Sunday, all the boats motored back to Seattle.
