Mats Mats Cruise Added to Club's 2009 Program

After our December planning meeting was snowed out, ten cruisers met January 9 to put together the 2009 schedule.
Most of the events are the same as in 2008 and prior years, but there are some important changes:
- Cruises in March have been unpopular in recent years; this year there is no event planned for March.
- The Memorial Day cruise to Longbranch remains the same, but we plan to overnight at Tacoma on the return trip.
- We've planned a June cruise to Mats Mats. This small bay has an entrance only five feet deep although the bay itself is an excellent protected anchorage. When we'll be arriving late Saturday afternoon the tide will be high with plenty of depth at the entrance. Sunday a 3' minus tide occurs at 10 AM, but rapidly rises to plus 1.8 at noon and plus 4.8 at 1 PM.
- We're planning a two-week Canada cruise in August. In due time we'll get together a committee of interested parties to decide the itinerary, leaving plenty of flexibility for joining or leaving the cruise and also for possible weather delays.
- Reviving a CYC tradition, we've arranged with the Port Madison Yacht Club to spend New Year's Eve at their docks with the use of their clubhouse. No public fireworks, no big-screen TV showing the ball dropping in Times Square, but excellent docks and a cozy space on shore with wood-burning stove and kitchen. And the price is right!
