The Board continues to hear compliments for our web site which is becoming a hub for sailing news in the Pacific Northwest. The links to CYC team racing at Sail Sand Point and junior sailing are drawing both members and non members to our web site. Two team racers have recently joined CYC as associate members. Suggestions include adding a link to high school sailing. Thanks to Derek Storm and Bruce Sherman for their much appreciated work.
Michael Cenname reported that Optis are now racing on Thursday evening at CYC. Our Junior membership is growing as these Opti sailors become members. Michael has been working to build relationships with SYC juniors, Sail Sand Point, Green Lake and Mount Baker sailing.
The CYC Board of Directors presented commemorative framed certificates to Thistler Rusty Lhamon, CYC Whaler Driver Brian Coleman and Principal Race Officer Kevin Cunningham for their heroic rescue of three Thistle sailors pitched into Lake Washington during a squall on April 22.
Noel Morgan, CYC facilities chairman, reported on his inspection of the hull of our Shilshole clubhouse. Along with two knowledgeable assistants, Noel found the interior of the hull to be dry and in reasonably good condition. He will present a plan for reinstalling the doors linking the six compartments of the hull as well as a means of pumping water from the hull if that should become necessary.
Noel presented a plan for steps from the door to the dock on west side of the lower level of the clubhouse. He also will repair the current steps on the south east side of the clubhouse.
Bill Mains will be working with Bruce Sherman to publicize our next cruising weekend to Mats Mats on June 20. The same weekend will see J Fest at Shilshole.
The Board set the 2009 Annual Meeting for Tuesday, November 10. Harry Brown will chair the nominating committee. Contact Harry at harry.brown2@comcast.net with recommendations for the 2010 CYC Board.
A meeting of the CYC Membership Committee will be Sunday June 14, 10:30 am at our Shilshole clubhouse.
