James D Christened

Jim Miller smashed a ceremonial bottle of champagne over the bow of CYC's newest mark-set Whaler, the James D., to christen the boat on Sunday, October 11, at Shilshole. The new Whaler's first name, "James," honor's Miller, a tireless volunteer for CYC who was fleet captain, race, for five years. The initial "D." is the first letter of the last name of an anonymous donor who paid for the whaler. Current Fleet Captain Race, Jerry Diercks, performed most of the work to get the James D. ready for service.
