Mike Johnson and his crew on the J/24 Hot Pursuit won the top-performance award at the Sperry Top-Sider Seattle NOOD Regatta May 14 - 17, based at CYC's Shilshole clubhouse. The Hot Pursuit crew is holding the trophy awarded to them for their fleet victory, which gave them the class Western Regional Championship. Hot Pursuit's performance, and the hot competition in their fleet, got them the nod for regatta-best honors and a trip next fall to the NOOD sail-offs in the Caribbean. Hot Pursuit will be among the favorites in the J/24 North American Championship regatta, to be hosted by CYC May 20-23. From left in the photo are CYC Commodore John Rahn, SYC Vice Commodore Kim Lorenz, Team Hot Pursuit members, skipper Johnson, Joy Okazaki, Bob Pistay, Peggy Pritchard and Justin Fallstrom. In the photo below, the J/105 fleet got off a start at NOOD with the Olympic Mountains in the background. The regatta drew more than 170 boats in 20 level-racing fleets.
