Eric Sanderson, a J/24 Class leader and a staff commodore of CYC, was named winner of the 2009 Hans Otto Giese Inspirational Award at the club's annual awards banquet Jan. 29 at the Shilshole clubhouse. In presenting the award, Commodore John Rahn quoted one of Sanderson's longtime crewmembers: “Eric's tireless efforts toward all aspects of the club and all people involved encourage everybody to contribute more.” Sanderson served as commodore in 2008 and is a former district governor for the J/24 Class.
