Two Good Weekends for a CYC "Big Boat"

Flashing by the Competition

J/24 Start

CYC Member Steve Travis and the crew of his One Design 48 Flash had two great weekends of racing in a row, winning the unlimited Flattery race in the Swiftsure Classic, May 29 - 30, and nailing down class and overall honors in Seattle Yacht Club's Tri-Island Series (Long Course), which concluded with the Blake Island Race June 5. At Swiftsure, Flash finished 2 hours and 10 minutes ahead of its closest competitor, a Farr 40, on corrected time, and about 2 hours 45 minutes ahead on elapsed time. Flash's finishes in the Tri-Island series were Smith Island, 7, Vashon Island, 2, and Blake Island 3. A number of other CYC members also had high finishes at Swiftsure and in the Tri-Island Series. In the photo above, Flash heads downwind after rounding the mark at Cape Flattery. Below, Travis accepts a Tri-Island award from Rhonda Halffman of Seattle Yacht Club.
