Last year’s Lake Fleet Appreciation Night was a resounding success. It was very well attended and everybody enjoyed themselves. It therefore makes sense for an “Encore,” and CYC is planning to do it once again on Tuesday evening, August 31 and Wednesday evening, Sept. 1. The dates have been changed to the following week: Sept. 7 and 8. Drinks and food will be provided and all we need is you, in good spirits, and prepared to spend an evening in the company of fellow sailors.
Since our old clubhouse is no longer vacant and available for rent, we have a little more of a challenge this year. We looked around for venues and there just are not any available at Leschi. Leavitt Properties has been generous enough to allow us to use the parking lot, in front of the old clubhouse, and we therefore have to trust the weather gods to be cooperative. We cannot bring in tables or chairs so it will be standing room only, unless you come prepared with lawn chairs or something like that.
We are looking forward to pleasant evenings and we hope that you will alert your crews that they should plan on attending this event organized for their benefit. One little note of caution. We are in a parking lot that needs to be ready for use the following morning. We are also very close to Lake Washington. We will make sure that we have garbage and recycling cans readily available but we have to make darn sure that everything gets properly disposed of in one or the other. We need to take good care of the Lake and we just cannot risk having somebody file a complaint that we are littering it.
