CYC Treasurer Remmert Wolters, left, served up beer and hot dogs for Tuesday night racers on Sept. 7, as CYC held the first of two Lake Appreciation Nights at Leschi on Lake Washington. A similar gathering was to be held for the Wednesday night program on Sept. 8. CYC started Lake Appreciation Nights last year as a partial demonstration of its commitment to racing on Lake Washington. Wolters is the chief organizer of the events. In the face of rising rent, the club in December 2008 elected not to renew its lease on the Leschi clubhouse and is looking at long-range alternatives for a base of operations on the Lake.
