Laser Domination Night, a promotion put together by the local fleet to increase participation, drew 23 boats to the starting line on Thursday, June 24. The group included some new and some familiar faces for the biggest Laser turnout in recent memory.
Five races were sailed, and Mike Cenname won the night (and the Hot Rod Duck Award). Mike Johnson was second (Hula Dancing Girl Award) and Steve Van Dyke was third (Stick-on Compass Award).
All prize winners are expected to mount their trophies on their boats for the next Laser Domination Night, August 12. Special prizes (A What Would a Pirate Do personal decision assistant -PDA- was awarded to Jim Johnston and an Affirmation Ball went to David Schutte) were also handed out. David managed to rerig on the water, which is no small feat.
The main thing, it was good fun and good racing. Plan to join us in August! Contact us ahead of time and we might be able to find a boat for you. Thanks to CYC for hosting!
The following Tuesday a few of us trekked to Lake Union and met with some boats from the University of Washington for Duck Dodge (10 boats in all). It was a great deal of fun, with a shifty but good breeze that even required some hiking! The Duck Dodge committee even came up with a special set of ducks for us! See them on transom near you.
