New SLAM Gear for CYC PROs and Drivers

June, 2009

CYC's principal race officers and Whaler drivers are now sporting matching foul-weather gear thanks to SLAM and Pat Dore, a partner in the company that represents the Italian apparel manufacturer on the U.S. West Coast.

SLAM and Dore, who lives in the Seattle area and is well known in the local sailing community, donated seven sets of jackets and trousers to the club. PROs on both Lake Washington and Puget Sound have red gear and Whaler drivers are wearing "acid green" gear for good visibility.

Whaler drivers Phil Sherman, left, and Brian Coleman modeled their new SLAM foul-weather gear recently before Wednesday night racing at Leschi.

Dore and his partner Greg Jackson own Northwest Reps, which is responsible for setting up the SLAM dealer network on the West Coast and for promoting the brand. SLAM is one of the official sponsors of the BMW Oracle America's Cup team.

"I race more than most, and I feel that CYC Racing Director Kevin Cunningham and his team do an outstanding job," Dore said. "Without their efforts, we would not have the quality of racing we have on Puget Sound at CYC. Keeping his team dry and warm makes their job more enjoyable."

The new gear also gives the CYC race team a more professional look, Dore said.

CYC Commodore John Rahn thanked Dore and SLAM for the donation.

"Pat and SLAM already are among our race sponsors, and we appreciate this generous gift to the club," Rahn said.
