In an effort to boost participation in the Shilshole one-design program, the CYC Board of Directors voted recently to allow unregistered sailors who are new to the Shilshole one-design program to race any three Thursday nights this season for free.
The vote was in response to a request for help from board member Michael Cenname, who is a Laser sailor. He noted that Thursday night numbers have been dwindling for Lasers, 505s, Stars and other classes that traditionally participate in the program.
"This might be a big help for us," he said.
The waiver of race fees is available to both members and non-members who are new to the Shilhole one-design program. It applies only to the Thursday night program and is in effect only through the end of the 2010 season.
