The Way We Were
Al Van Deventer was a local sailor who grew up in Tacoma during the Depression,
sailed Snipes at the Tacoma Yacht Club as a teenager, sailed Blanchards at
CYC in the late '50s, and was one of the first OK Dinghy sailors in the US. Here
he recounts those bygone days and gives us some idea of where we came from.
