Altair Cruising Log

A short note

4/4/2006

Well we finally left Balboa (Panama City) Monday morning and have started our trek back to Seattle. Not to overdue things the first day, we only motored out to Tabago Island, about six miles away. In the afternoon we took a nice walk through the multi-colored houses of this small resort town and up to the hill with the cross, great view. Tuesday morning left early and we sailed over to Contadora in Las Perlas Islands, this island is covered with expensive holiday homes of wealthy Panamaians and is where the Shah of Iran spent his last years in exile. Today we will explore Contadora then off to another less populated island tomorrow.

The boat is fully stocked with food for the coming months and all the lockers are stuffed beyond almost capacity. Suzette had a full job just trying to get a can of tuna out for lunch the other day, had to take out six other things first then try to cram them all back in! We certainly will not starve.

We will stay here Las Perlas for about a week and then take off for the Galapagos; the sail to the Galapagos will take us about 9 days so we should arrive just after Easter. Feels different to be making a passage that we have made before.
