Altair Cruising Log

Log 7 On our way

19 April 2001

Wanted to let everyone know that we will be leaving the Galapagos this Saturday 21 April and starting our crossing to the Marquesas in the South Pacific. We are estimating that the crossing will take about 30 days (around May 21), give or take, and will let you know when we arrive and find our first email café in the South Pacific.

We have a special request to make while we are making this long passage and will be out of email contact for a month. Our Yahoo mailbox is free but therefore fairly small so we would like to request that for the next month you refrain from sending us any large graphic files so that our mailbox will not fill up too fast. Thanks for your help with this. We have also had some difficulty getting photos that people have sent us via email. If the photos appear in the email when we open it, we have no problem seeing them. But if we need to download them, so far we have not been able to view any photos this way. We are not sure if it is due to sloooow service or some other reason. We are working with our computer knowledgeable friends to try to work this out and will let you know. It would be great for us to receive photos in this manner and we have certainly greatly enjoyed receiving those photos that we have been able to see.

We have had a wonderful stay here in the Galapagos and will miss the wonderful, varied and friendly animals that live here. We found ourselves visiting with marine iguanas at the beach today and were reminded what a special and unique experience and opportunity this has been for us. Truly very magical. We had hoped to get the log of our adventures in the Galapagos off before we left these islands but we have both been under the weather a bit and so it will have to wait until we reach our next landfall. We will work hard to have it completed during the passage so we can send it off as soon as we reach land. Until we email again, you are in our thoughts and we miss more regular contact with you.

Cheers – Suzette and Paul
