Report from Paul LaMarche

Thu, 3 May 2001

This is a message I have received about Paul and Susette. They have asked me to pass on messages to everyone as I receive them. Offshore email is limited so please do not try and email them direct. I also have one other offshore contact for them. If something is urgent, please pass it through me. I sure they are having fun and are ok.
Paul

Hi! I'm a friend of Paul & Suzette's, and just spoke to them on our marine shortwave radio this morning. They requested that I pass on a quick message for your to read and forward to their folks, etc.

As of this morning, May 1st, they are 1030 nautical miles from the Galapagos at the following location: 004 degrees 41 minutes South 106 degrees 57 minutes West with 15 to 20 knots of wind from the S/SE.

The last two days have been a fast ride, consistently averaging about 7 knots! They found 2 squid and 1 flying fish on deck this morning, and Paul is contemplating calamari with garlic for lunch.

They are in good spirits, and despite rather rolly seas, seem to be enjoying themselves.

We plan to leave the Galapagos tonight or tomorrow, and hope to keep in radio contact with them every few days. We can pass on any questions or news if you need to get it to them.

Cheers,

Tom Voltz
