In the Indian Ocean, closer to Africa than Asia, lies the Republic of Mauritius. It is an island country, on one of the Mascerene islands.
Wings arrived here on October 19, after 18.5 days at sea and 2700 miles from Sumatra, Indonesia.
This was a major crossing and we accomplished it with no major issues. Sitting here now in Port Louis, Mauritius the boat is clean and dry and fully functional with the exception, and major aggravation, of no refrigeration. Our drinks are not cold. Yeah, there are some other minor issues but they don't amount to much. A new refer is on order.
We meant to go on to Africa but our crew member, Pierre, decided to go home to Singapore to look for a job, so we are now back to two of us.
As a result, rather than do a last minute search for crew, we have decided to stay here in Mauritius, if we can, until next season, and enjoy this delightful country for a few months.
