CYC Debuts New Web Site
Sometime soon after the Blakely Rocks Race on Saturday, March 5, CYC will go live with a new website that has a more contemporary look, will be easier for members to navigate, and will improve the club’s ability to communicate with members and the Northwest sailing community at large.
Mike Nicoletti designed the new site, with fine-tuning and final touches by CYC Board Member Jonathan Flack. The club began planning the site in November, aiming to include all the information available on the existing site, and to improve the look and make things easier to find.
The update is happening at the same time the club has migrated its race registration and scoring system to U.S. Sailing’s Regatta Network, which will simplify the registration process for racers and make it easier for the club’s office and race staff to record registrations and score races. Vicki Ross, our assistant club manager said, “I am amazed and thrilled at how quiet both the office and phone are before this regatta.”
The new web site will feature links to Regatta Network for registration that will funnel the information to the CYC office. The 2011 Racebook also is posted on the site and will not be printed this year, saving the club about $3,000.
As with the current site, the new web site will be updated regularly with club news and information and photos of our races, cruises and other events. The address of the site will not change.
Long- time webmaster Derek Storm is leaving that role and taking time off. “He has done a great job on the web-site, and I and the club thank him greatly for all the work done over the years,” said Commodore Wayne Balsiger.
