It has been 15-20 years since the locks of the clubhouse have last been changed and there are lots of keys in the hands of people who are not current members of the club. This potentially gets us in trouble with our insurance company, and, because we have to arrange for cleaning, we have also noticed that we have unauthorized use of the clubhouse, at times. The board has therefore decided that it is time to get the situation under control and the locks will be changed in the near future.

Our policy continues that Senior members S1, S2 and S3 may hold a key and can be procured through the CYC office. For existing Senior member key holders, you may exchange the current for a new key for $15.00, which is essentially our cost. New keys for senior members will be sold at $25.00. As a member, you will be responsible for the key and are expected to return it when you are no longer an eligible key holder. In the past, multiple keys were issued to members and were typically distributed among other family members and crew. We are trying to avoid that practice and will require a member to demonstrate why an eligible spouse would need a separate clubhouse key, before a second key will be available for purchase.

We apologize for the inconvenience but I hope that you all agree that our clubhouse is there for the use of our membership and should not be available to be used by anyone who happens to have picked up a key over the twenty years. We will further announce the exact date when the locks will be changed and when the new keys will be available so we have an orderly transition.
