Please join us to recognize the quick thinking and good seamanship demonstrated by Daniel Postell and Alec Wade on August 19 th at CYC. 6 pm Dinner | 7 pm Recognition Ceremony You may have already heard the story… Sail Sand Point/CYC Junior Sailing instructors Daniel Postell and Alec Wade responded to distress signals on Tuesday, July 19 th when they saved Marsha Baker from her burning 15’ Whaler. Ms. Baker was forced to jump into the cold waters of Puget Sound about a mile off Shilshole when her gasoline engine caught fire and threatened to explode.

Marsha, a Tacoma Yacht Club member, reports that Daniel and Alec were very calm, professional and quickly attended to her safety while managing their own safety and that of our students.  Because of their quick response, a very scary and potentially life threatening situation was averted. We am not surprised that Daniel’s team responded so well, but we are incredibly grateful for their presence on the scene and their thoughtful care in the situation. This is in part a testimate to the outstanding training provided by Sail Sand Point.
