We are looking for nominees for the CYC Awards for outstanding performances in 2011.

The Awards are:

Boat of the Year – for an outstanding season in CYC and other NW races.

Recent winners were Flash (Steve Travis), Banshee (Derek and Rana Campbell), Tantivy (Stuart Burnell) and Here & Now (Patrick Denny).

Sailor of the Year – consistently races and places in the top tier of dinghy or keelboat races; this award includes those who are outstanding crew or who is on different boats throughout the season.

Recent winners include Dalton Bergan, Wayne Berge, Kris Bundy and Derick Vranizan.

Hans Otto Giese Inspirational – one who has consistently provided leadership and inspiration to CYC and the amateur sailing community.

Recent winners include Dick Rose, Eric Sanderson, Dan Falk and Wayne Balsiger.

Boating Family – an active family in racing, cruising, CYC activities, other sailing efforts.

Recent winners include Scott & Shelby Milne, the Macaulays, the Buchans and Flannery-Kaiser.

George Spalding Inspirational – most inspirational Junior sailor.

Recent winners include Nicholas Martin, Matt Pistay and Michael Schalka.

Gary Horder Memorial – CYC Junior with active and successful racing program.  Recent winners include Jack Toland, Katy Cenname, Matt Pistay and Michael Schalka.

Greig Memorial Cruising – leadership and cruising accomplishments whether in local or blue waters.

Recent winners were Rob and Terresa Sicade, the Bardasons, Bob Riggle & Phyliss Macay and the Goldsteins.

Dog House – a sailor who handicaps him/her self by unseamanlike activity – usually some bad luck and hopefully with a bit of humor in it.  Recent awardees include Joe James (running aground) and Dan Casey (Thistles)

Nominations (with a brief bit of background explaining the basis for the nomination) can be sent by email to Ken Johnson (kenneth.johnson4@comcast.net) or by mail:  3706 So. Ridgeway Place, Seattle, WA  98144.  Or you can drop them off at the CYC Shilshole office.   Ken will assemble the nominations and present them to the Board for its decisions.
