Cruising | Blakely Rocks Low Tide Cruise – “Brunch on the Beach” at Blakely Rocks.
It’s time to start thinking about the next CYC cruise on June 13-14. This is one you don’t want to miss. And for anyone who has raced around Blakely Rocks, this is your chance to see what lies below and be prepared for your next trip around the rocks.
We will head over to Blakely Harbor/Port Blakely (on south end of Bainbridge Island) on Saturday anytime that suits you. Raft up. Relax or go for a hike. There is a beach at the head of the bay where you can land your dinghy and there is great hiking for all ages on the island. We love the hike over to Rich Passage through the woods. You can also walk to Pleasant Beach area for lunch or a snack or walk up to a pleasant local park with a labyrinth, a view and a bench swing. Plan on a happy hour appetizer potluck on Saturday.
The big event is on Sunday when we find our way out to Blakely Rocks via dinghy, kayak or boat to do a bit of beachcombing and visit the tidepools. There will be a few of us that can help you find and identify the sea critters. Low tide (-2ft) is at 10am. So we should plan on landing at Blakely Rocks about 9-9:30. Hopefully the weather will cooperate as we plan to have “Brunch on the beach” potluck after tidepooling. There is limited space for some smaller boats to anchor if the weather is mild. Bring your beach blankets and beach chairs and enjoy the little island getaway!
Note: Racing boats attending the raft up will receive special recognition.
