The 2017 CYC Lake Regatta was held Saturday, September 16 on the smokey waters off Leschi Marina. Seventeen boats set out on a warm, hazy Saturday morning which promised light, shifty winds. As usual, PRO Troy Childs and his trusty whaler drivers set a modest race course in the challenging conditions. Unfortunately, the breeze did not cooperate and the first attempt was blown off.

After a short delay, a second attempt to run a short race in the shifty northerly resulted in a handful of the J-24s and Thistles sneaking across the finish line. Unfortunately, the largest fleet ( SJ 24’s..thanks for coming out en masse!) could not make it across the finish line. (See Results)

Following the final abandonment, the fleet repaired to the docks at Leschi for the now famous Remmert Wolters burger and brat festival, as well as wonderful salads and sides and beverages.

Final awards for the fall series, overall and Lake Regatta were handed out, participants put their boats away, and the 2017 Lake season ended with an abundance of good cheer, smokey skies and smiles all around.
