About
The CYC Guppies are less of a strict program, and more of an opportunity to introduce your children to boating. First time participants usually begin with a parent and child in a boat without a sail “sculling” around our corner of the marina in one of CYC’s Optimist boats. Parents work with their children to introduce concepts such as: Port and Starboard, and Tiller Towards Trouble.
When ready, parents and kids learn to rig the boats. We sail them up and down the area by the CYC Boathouse, tacking and gybing in the light summer air together with parents or leaders, or as skill develops, on their own.
Leader Kevin Klinemeier will be present to help parents rig and launch the boats, provide tips and assistance, take kids out to experience these boats, and ensure a safe experience for everyone.
Afterward, come to dinner at the clubhouse and share your experiences!
