Ahoy All CYC Cruisers!
Yes, the seasonal attention binge is almost over, the days are getting longer and we’re all beginning to daydream about such things as cruising to glory. There will be a first meeting on Friday, January 10th at the CYC Clubhouse at 6:30 PM. This is concurrent with the usual Friday Night Social – Rachelle should be serving dinner, the bar will be open and young children can be as energetic as the rest of us can turn a blind eye to.
Topics to be included:
- Where are these glorious places we can easily reach during our oh so short weekends?
- OK, which weekends?
- So. But “I” wanna go to “this” (other) fabulous place!
- Which brings me to the next topic and one dear to my Hook-ish heart . . . “you” (as opposed to me!) have just been volunteered to lead us to this particular glory!!! (Ya sure, that’s right, I didn’t volunteer for the vaunted position of Fleet Captain, devoid as it is of fancy hats, epaulets and room to swing a cat . . . I was “volunteered” . . . and you will be, too!!!!! This is why we pay money every month . . . . (Teams can certainly be formed to share the load of a particular cruise’s organization.)
- There have been requests to have a greater variety of cruises this year. So be it.
- To this end we already have a 12 year old volunteer! She’s willing and able to organize activities that revolve around the younger members and their guests. (See, if she can ((swimmingly!!)) do it so can “you”, or maybe it’s we?!) Goodness knows what she’s going to cook up . . . .
- Another idea is to have a couple of early season day cruises so that our boat-less friends/ club members can sail with us. “You” get to keep your skipper’s hat. With some boat hopping we can also find out who makes for compatible crew for future overnight cruises. This gives us ‘boat-full’ sorts the opportunity to increase our cruising ranks and share our largesse & skills . . . and make for a larger party/ social occasion . . . happy, happy, happy . . . .
- We can review previous cruise destinations and dates for good/bad reactions. We could fight about them but we won’t.
- New members/ cruisers are always welcome! Is there anyone you know who might like to join us? We can add them to our mailing list! They need not be CYC members . . . yet. ;~> (No, really, the primary goal is to have them come cruising with us if they’re looking for a friendly opportunity. CYC membership, if they aren’t already, would be a happy outcome.)
- “We” could use a Photo-to-CYC web-site Liaison Officer to facilitate our boasting to the rest of the Club. “You” can provide your own bloody epaulets and regalia. Expertise no impediment – bring your joyous willingness to get in over your head and still swim!
- Some musically inclined cruises – Instruments?, Singing? I can think of several musically talented cruisers among us . . . . (Note: singers of sea chanties will be made to walk the plank to ‘deserted suburban islands” where they may serenade the ‘natives’ . . . . )
- I’m sure I’ve forgotten something. “You” can fill me in!!! If you are unable to attend the meeting, by all means, email me with your thoughts.
- Oh yes, there’s always room for the cat: I will make the usual autocratic decisions following the “consensual process.”
