Winter Speaker Series

Social Hour: 6pm
(Bar open and food available for $5.)
Program: 7-9pm
Location: CYC clubhouse
(North end of Shilshole Bay Marina)

Please join us this winter on selected Friday evenings for talks by club members and guest speakers about their cruising adventures. This is a fun way to spend a few winter evenings with food, drinks and friends and maybe get inspired for your own cruising adventures. Please check our website www.cycseattle.org for additional information or call 206-789-1919.

Friday, February 6:
Vancouver Island to Alaska and back
(Christy Clement & Jason Andersen)

Christy and Jason will share their adventures up to Alaska and back with a focus on Vancouver Island aboard sv Hello World. They’ll share stories of how many fish they didn’t catch, the best anchorages with rope swings and how to lasso a (small) iceberg.

Friday, February 13:
Three Years to the South Pacific and New Zealand—Subscribing to Island Time
(Lauren Buchholz & Lauren Smith)

Lauren Buchholz and Lauren Smith, aboard their Wauquiez 35 PIKO, left Seattle in 2010 for their adventure. They sailed for 3 years through Mexico, French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji, and New Zealand before coming back to the States in December 2013.

Friday, February 27:
A $600 Summer Cruising the East Coast from the Chesapeake Bay to Penobscot Bay
(Jennifer & Ben Braden)

Ben & Jennifer Braden, along with their yellow lab MacIntosh, drove across the country in 2012, purchased a small sailboat and spent the next 4 months cruising and exploring the historical waters of the NorthEast.  A once in a lifetime American adventure that few cruisers take the opportunity to enjoy.
