Please join us on three Friday evenings in February for talks by club members and guest speakers on their cruising adventures. It’s a fun way to spend a few winter evenings and inspire your own future sailing adventures.

Friday February 1, 2013: Chris and Alexis Aldrich

One Year Cruising Adventure

Chris and Alexis Aldrich took off for a year exploring under sail with their nine-year-old son, Seth, and Alexis’ twelve-year-old  brother, Kirk. Favorite locations on their cruising adventure were the Sea of Cortez in Mexico and French Polynesia in the South Pacific.

Avid racers go cruising, completing a three year Pacific Loop. Hear about Bill and Kathi Cuffel’s magical time in Australia, exploring the Australian Coast from Bundaburg, Queensland, to Hobart, Tasmania, and the 10,000 mile trip home via New Zealand, Tahiti and Hawaii.

Friday February 22: Joel and Mary Thornton

Changes in Attitude: Transition from Ocean Sailing to French Canal Cruising

After five years cruising Mexico and the Pacific, Joel and Mary Thornton sold their sailboat and bought a canal boat in France.  For the past two years, they have cruised the canals and rivers of southwest and central France. They will talk about the differences in the two types of cruising.
