Today at CYCHeadlines From the Clubhouse

WELCOME to Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle

We are a group of sailors who do stuff with and for each other that we couldn’t do alone. We build a sense of community by working with each other to make fun things happen: racing on Lake Washington and Puget Sound; cruising with friends and learning the tricks of the lifestyle; getting our kids on the water and having fun on boats; hosting social and educational activities for each other.

Shauna_WalgrenHow does the CYC Community work? The best way to explain it is by providing shining examples of members doing for members.

Shauna Walgren is one example of a model CYC Member.

Why? She contributes to the Club by making fun things happen for other members. How does she do it? She comes up with things she would like to do at the Club and she finds a couple friends to help make it happen. What kinds of things has she created?

  • Women’s Sailing Series – Providing sailing experiences that boost confidence and develop relationships with others.
  • Women’s Race Team – Building on relationships forged during the Women’s Sailing Series we have at least three teams of folks racing.
  • Spring Speaker’s Series – Encouraging CYC Members to share their valued adventures and experience with other members. (Diesel Mechanics for Boat Owners, Canvas Sewing Workshops, Madeira Wine and the Sea, etc. etc.)

What do YOU want from YOUR Club?

The CYC Platform is here to help Lake and Sound sailors build and share with our community. Would you like to introduce sailors to your racing fleet? Is there some topic that you are interested in learning about that other CYC sailors might enjoy? Would you like to do a game night at the Club?

All it takes is an idea and a couple of people to help make it happen. If there is something you want to make happen, contact me at Jerry Diercks. I can guide you in using the CYC Platform to make something fun happen for fellow members.

All my best,

Jerry Diercks
